Jaipur: Early Saturday morning, around 3 A.M., a fire ignited in the engine of the Garib Rath Express at Sendra Railway Station in Beawar District, Rajasthan, causing alarm among the passengers. Thanks to the quick thinking and prompt actions of the loco pilot, all passengers were evacuated safely, preventing a potential disaster.
The incident unfolded when smoke was spotted emanating from the engine, prompting passengers to alert the loco pilot, who acted swiftly to halt the train.
His rapid response ensured that no injuries occurred during the incident. Following the alert, the Railway administration took immediate action by stopping nearby trains at various stations to avert further complications.
Fire brigade teams from Beawar arrived quickly and initiated efforts to extinguish the flames. Railway officials and engineering teams also rushed to the scene at Sendra station.
The fire, which inflicted significant damage on the engine, was eventually brought under control.
Initial investigations suggest that the blaze may have resulted from a technical malfunction or a short circuit within the engine.
A thorough inquiry is currently in progress to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
A spokesperson for the Railway confirmed that all passengers were unharmed and that alternative transportation arrangements were made to ensure they reached their destinations.
One eyewitness, a passenger on the train, recounted, “We noticed smoke coming from the engine and alerted the driver. He acted immediately and stopped the train. His quick thinking prevented the fire from spreading to other coaches.”
In the aftermath of the incident, Railway authorities have started the process of removing the damaged engine from the tracks to restore normal rail operations.
